B2. Port Harmonia Working Wedges Layout
The main settlement of Port Harmonia is located around a small crater (diameter 100m), in a radius of buildings 1-2km. This plus a safety and growth ring, extending to ~2-3km is the “Green Zone”. Beyond this zone the city is laid out in “wedges”, with the NE axis extending out the Starport setting the 12 o’clock bearing.

Heavy Transport Links
North East Starport Corridor:
East Logistics Artery: city → heavy industry → starport (grade-separated where it crosses flight safety arcs)
North Resource Corridor: city → water-ice fields (pipes + haul road + fiber), held north of city latitude.
South Power Corridor: city → solar/nuclear (HVDC + maintenance track), routed outside approach wedges.
HWAC Trunks (Heat/Water/Air/Comms)
Dual ring-mains at ~2 km and ~4 km radii with N–S / E–W spurs; sectional valves every 500 m; cross-ties at 12/3/6/9.
Emergency & Safety
Refuge pods every 600–800 m around the 2–3 km ring (≥48 h autonomy).
Egress corridors (dust-storm rated) to the NNW and SSE.
Fire/Rescue stations at 11, 2, 5, 8 o’clock; direct access to starport and industry.
Downrange exclusion & abort-debris zones aligned with 11–1.5 o’clock headings (keep permanently clear).
Wedge / Function | Compass Bearing | Wedge Segment | Radial Distance | Rationale for position |
Starport Hub & ATC | 45° (NE) | 12 o’clock | ~3 km | Gateway between city and starport: close enough for rapid response, but offset downwind of hab; sits on the head of the NE logistics corridor feeding pads, customs, and industry without crossing hab streets. |
Customs/Security & Quarantine | 15–75° (NE) | 11–1 o’clock | ~4-5 km | Straddles the main outbound/inbound flow to the starport so all traffic can be screened before entering the city; uses the same NE corridor airflow so exhaust/dust move away from hab; avoids crossing power/water trunks to S/SW. |
Operational Starport (primary pads, ATC) | 15–75° (NE) | 11–1 o’clock | ~6–10 km+ | Downwind of the city under prevailing westerlies; far enough to cut dust/acoustic loads; aligned with approach/climb corridors that never overfly hab; adjacent to heavy-industry arc for short GSE/prop runs. |
Donor Starship Landing & Salvage | 15–75° | 11–1 o’clock | ~10–16 km+ | Beyond operational pads to segregate hot-work, decon and cutting from passenger ops; downrange so particulates and fumes carry east; direct back-haul into heavy manufacturing and ISRU cryo farm. |
Industry Cargo Storage & Yard Construction | 75–105° (ENE–ESE) | 1–2 o’clock | ~3–6 km+ | On the east logistics crescent between city and industry, minimizing haul to heavy manufacturing and starport while keeping dusty staging downwind of hab. |
Test Range / Proving Ground | 75–105° (ENE–ESE) | 1–2 o’clock | ~10–16 km+ | Placed beyond pads so trials run parallel to flight paths, not across them; downwind of city and upwind of landfill to keep noise/particulates off hab and arrays; operations scheduled around launch windows. |
Waste / Landfill | 105° (ESE) | 2 o’clock | ~6–10 km+ | East of city so odors/dust track away under westerlies; co-located near MRF and industrial haul roads; safely outside starport approach centerlines. |
Heavy Manufacturing Campus | 105–150° (ESE–SSE) | 2–3.5 o’clock | ~3–12 km+ | Downwind arc for “dirty” processes, with shortest run to starport and donor-salvage; buffered from PV/nuclear to the south by service corridors; keeps clean western sector free for ag and residences. |
Nuclear | 150–165° (SSE) | 3.5–4 o’clock | ~8–16 km | Downwind and well outside flight corridors; on competent ground and adjacent to the south power corridor to feed grid/battery nodes while maximizing standoff from hab and water fields. |
Hydrogen/Electrolyzer & Thermal Storage | 150–195° (SSE) | 3.5–5 o’clock | ~4–6 km | Co-sited between PV (SW) and nuclear (SE) to shorten electrical/thermal runs; downwind of city; isolated from starport ignition sources and from public traffic. |
PV Solar Megafarms (A & B) | A: 165–225° B: 45–76° | A: 4–6 o’clock B: 6–8 o’clock | ~5–10 km+ | Southern exposure and large contiguous tracts; positioned away from starport dust plumes; flanked by battery nodes and the south power corridor; leaves clean western air for ag and north for water-ice haul. |
Wastewater & Materials Recovery | 5–6 o’clock | ~4–6 km | Downwind and adjacent to PV/thermal storage for low-cost power; two-way material flows with landfill to the east and light industry to the west; avoids flight-path incursions. | |
Life-Support (A & B) | 255–285° (WSW–WNW) | A: 6–7 o’clock B: 12–1 o’clock | ~3–5 km | Dual-sited for redundancy: one on the quiet west for clean intake and protected service to hab; one near NE corridor to feed industry/starport quickly; both outside approach wedges and with easy valve isolation. |
Light Industry Campus | 255–285° (WSW–WNW) | 7–8 o’clock | ~3–5 km | Upwind, “clean-side” fabrication buffers the hab from ag; short hops to battery/data center; keeps heavy-dust processes shifted east with the manufacturing arc. |
Shielded Data Center | 255–285° (WSW–WNW) | 7–8 o’clock | ~5–7 km | Low-dust, thermally stable sector with strong power redundancy (PV + battery node 8 o’clock); far from explosive risk (ISRU/prop) and outside starport hazard radius. |
Agricultural Industry | 285–245° (WNW–NNW) | 8–10 o’clock | ~3–6 km | Clean-air band upwind of industry and downwind of water corridor; acts as buffer between hab and water-ice haul; avoids shading conflicts with PV to the south. |
Water-Ice Mining Fields | 285–245° | 8–10 o’clock | ~6–20 km+ | Northwest arc targets shallow subsurface ice while keeping any blow-off north of the city latitude; aligned to a dedicated north resource corridor that never crosses the hab. |
ISRU Cryo Farm | 345–15° (NNW–NNE) | 10–11 o’clock | ~6–12 km | Upwind of city and outside public zones; shortest prop line to both donor-salvage and operational pads while maintaining standoff from hab and data center. |
Settlement Cargo Storage & Yard — Construction | 345–15° (NNW–NNE) | 10–11 o’clock | ~3–6 km | Staging for city builds on the quiet north edge so dust stays off hab; direct tie-in to ring-road and HWAC trunks without crossing starport approaches. |
GSE & Spares Hubs (2×) | 245° & 105° (NNW & ESE) | 10 & 2 o’clock | ~2–3 km | Twin depots on opposite sides reduce single-point failure: one near city/NNW for maintenance response, one ESE for starport/industry resupply; both offloaded from passenger flow. |
Battery / Inverter Nodes (6×) | 45°, 105°, 165°, 225°, 285°, 345° | 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 o’clock | ~2–3 km | Hex-ring architecture shortens feeders to PV/nuclear/industry/starport while giving N–S/E–W redundancy; keeps high-energy equipment outside the hab boundary. |
Comms / PNT / Met (8 posts) | 45°, 90°, 135°, 180°, 225°, 270°, 315°, 0° | 12, 1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9, 10.5 | ~2–3 km | Even 45° spacing gives overlapping coverage for navigation and wind/dust monitoring; clear lines-of-sight to pads and approach gates without intruding on flight corridors. |
